The Vittoriale degli Italiani is the enchanting hillside estate that stands in the town of Gardone Riviera, on Lake Garda. It was built by Gabriele d'Annunzio in the 1920s and 30s.
The recently added section of external lighting, inaugurated in June 2017, shines new light on the architectural elements and the footpaths within the estate. This substantial lighting project has involved the use of LED lighting fixtures from L&L in a number of different applications.
The Neva 1.0 linear profile, with a pitch of 60 mm, is integrated in the existing stone walls to light the walkway with a 3000K ground-level wash. Meanwhile, the Neva 2.0, pitch 120 mm, placed at the base of the arch, and the Pivot 1.7 projector pick out the intradosses and highlight the profile of the archways.
The work of lighting the significant architectural elements along the pathways is performed by the outdoor projectors. The Spot 1.6 gives theatrical prominence to the sculpture of a female figure standing in a small shrine through a play of backlighting between the statue and the semicircular background of the niche. The Spot 4.1 (customized product) is used to light the avenue that cuts through the olive trees, thanks to the devices’ ingenious positioning beneath the benches lining the way, from where they generate a light that skims the ground. Finally, the Siri 1.0 projector lights the imposing entrance to the Vittoriale and the path to the ticket office.
