For several years the city of Pescara has been developing street art as a public art form and a complementary tool for urban regeneration activities, culminating in the first edition of the Murap festival in 2021. The festival, organised by the Aria Foundation in collaboration with the Municipality of Pescara, involved four Italian artists who are internationally active – Ericailcane, Bastardilla, Antonello Macs and Alessandra Carloni – creating murals in three of Pescara’s neighbourhoods. It also got the local residents involved in urban regeneration themselves by using the participatory planning model.

Among the sites chosen for the initiative are are the eleven motorway pillars between the Risorgimento and D’Annunzio bridges. Here, artists Ericailcane and Bastardilla have brought to life their gigantic, brightly coloured birds, which break apart and reform depending on the observer's point of view. Neva 2.2 linear profiles, installed on brackets on the at the top of each pylon, illuminate the works of art with narrow 11° optics and a colour temperature of 4000K, isolating and enhancing these eleven enormous canvases, now distinctive landmarks in Pescara’s cityscape.
