It is a magical mix: ancient urban gardens, dotted with centuries-old maritime pines and overlooking the world’s most famous lagoon; a collection of sculptural works that reveal themselves along the winding avenue inside the gardens; and, the key ingredient, light.
The light of the sun as it slowly sets, reflected in the waters of Venice; and the light of our fixtures that shines on the sculptures in the surreal twilight hour, revealing a new side to them, and, perhaps, new meanings.

This magic happens in the Levante section of the Giardini della Marinaressa, not far from the Giardini della Biennale. During the Biennale Arte 2024, the Giardini della Marinaressa, together with two other outstanding venues, Palazzo Bembo and Palazzo Mora, are hosting the seventh edition of the Personal Structures group art exhibition organized by the European Cultural Centre (ECC) in Venice. With a guiding title for 2024 of Beyond Boundaries, the exhibition brings together more than 200 multidisciplinary artists and creatives from 51 countries and offers visitors a broad spectrum of artistic narratives: a wealth of different and unconventional perspectives that encourage dialogue and exchange between cultures.
The Levante section of the Giardini della Marinaressa houses 20 sculptural works by artists from all over the world; an open-air exhibition to be admired while strolling along the avenue that winds through the park, around its centuries-old maritime pines.

When the sun goes down, our light draws attention to each work on show with the precise illumination of Reiko 2.0 and 3.0 projectors. Fitted with a variety of optics, these are fixed to the ground with stakes or to the tree trunks with fastener straps. The fixtures’ jasper green and cor-ten finishes ensure they blend perfectly with the natural surroundings.
The Reiko projectors’ installation accessories, finishes and range of optics are specifically designed for applications such as landscape lighting, but it doesn’t end there. The aluminium alloy body and AISI 316L stainless steel bracket make the projectors particularly able to withstand weather and environmental conditions with a high risk of corrosion, such as the salty and humid lagoon environment of Venice.

To complete the lighting design created for our technical sponsorship, the avenue is lit from above with Ginko 3.0’s shadow-effect filter in order to recreate on the ground the dappled effect of light shining through foliage.

The Giardini della Marinaressa, composed of the Ponente and Levante gardens, are located in the Castello district, along Riva dei Sette Martiri, separated by a building known as the “Marinaressa Veneziana”. These public gardens were built in the 1930s, at the same time as the Riva dei Sette Martiri was constructed. They have recently been restored and brought back to life after years of neglect. Situated between the two main venues of the Biennale Arte, the Arsenale and the Giardini, they now host part of the collateral exhibitions of the Venice Biennale.
